English
In contemporary thought, critical thinking goes beyond a basic cognitive skill and represents an ontological and dialectical condition, wherein consciousness seeks not mastery but continual self-recognition in relation to the world. This study argues that the authentic realization of critical thinking depends on a discursive dialogue between two dimensions: the “thinking of thought,” involving logical evaluation of arguments, and the “thought of thinking”, involving reflexive critique of presuppositions and historical situatedness. Neglecting the latter reduces thought to instrumental rationality, risking epistemic passivity in today’s data-driven environment. Thus, critical thinking aims not at definitive judgment but at reflective pause amid interpretive plurality, sustaining an open engagement with truth. In sum, critical thinking is an existential stance that resists taken-for-granted assumptions and frames critique as an ongoing movement toward epistemic self-determination.
